What’s Up with the Youth?!

Netzer South Africa – February

Netzer has been pretty hard at work over the last few months!

We’ve gotten off to a really good start for 2014, and it is only going to get better from here on out. The Netzer South Africa Mazkirut has been settling into their new roles quite nicely over the last month. We’re all still trying to find out footing in the New Year, but we’re off to a good start.

As ever moving Youth, we hardly have a spare minute, always trying to jam pack as many things into our lives as possible – School, University, Spiritual Fulfilment, but most importantly Netzer.

We kicked off our year with a Camp Reunion in each of our regions.

Durban made amazing dream catchers while Gauteng went back in time with their AMAZING Time Machine and Cape Town played a fun game of Machanayim. (A really complicated ball game, where your smooth dodging skills are put to the test of the Machanayim arena comprised of 6 chairs, string boundaries and a soccer ball.)

Gauteng is charging ahead with their Leadership Training program for , having had a highly successful Hadracha Seminar on the weekend of the 21st of February. Our Mad Atzim (New Madrichim) have only just begun their training on the way to becoming some of the best Leaders in the country.

We started the weekend with a Kabalat Shabbat service where we set out some persona and group goals for the weekend. We spent the rest of the evening in ridiculous peulot, dressing up and eating chocolate and having a bit of fun before all the intense stuff.

The next two days were filled with Peulot (Activities) aimed at getting our Maddies confident in leading channichim (participants), learning the basics of planning activities and exploring everyone’s individual leadership qualities. We ended the intense Shabbat day with a meaningful Havdallah and then it was off to Rosebank Mall for a sneaky Scavenger Hunt where our Maddies truly shined.

As it was a Top Secret Superhero Spy Mission, we cannot disclose too many details, other than it was an enormous amount of fun and they all looked a bit silly in their hats.

All in all it was a great weekend that inspired our Maddies and we hope that throughout the year their skills only improve as they grow in the movement.

After a successful Camp Reunion at Greenpoint Park, Netzer Cape Town has been busy with Shabbat Chesed at Temple Israel Wynberg, and are looking forward the the Purim Carnival  and Shabbat Magic in the coming weeks.

Netzer is off to a great start and it’s only going to get better from here on out!

See you at the next Netzer event in a region near you!
